Lititz Trinity Church

Lititz, PA

Creating a more contemporary sanctuary while preserving its historic architecture, Lititz Trinity Church is poised for future generations. The goal was to better welcome future attendees by responding to the next generation’s expectations on worship. The focus was to create more flexibility to assist contemporary worship, while still complimenting and, in some cases, accentuating the historic architecture of the building.

Compared to the original multi-tiered smaller platforms, the existing chancel was re-imagined as one larger level for better visibility, accessibility, and flexibility. The placement of large digital display, centered above the participants, but also directly the magnificent rose window, was critical.

The architects teamed with the congregation’s design committee to review multiple new seating options. The decision to switch out the previously fixed pews with movable pew benches allows for flexibility in the space while keeping the traditional feel of a long pew.

The flooring was changed to more versatile carpet tile in a cool, refreshing blue. The lighter wall paint color draws attention to the stained-glass windows. And changing the ceiling coffers to a lighter contrasting color accentuates the striking wood ceiling framing.

By adding new hanging decorative fixtures with brighter LED lighting and many audio-visual upgrades, the sanctuary is poised for the generations that follow.
